Black Walnut features a heartwood that is dark brown to grayish-black and sapwood which is usually a light off-white color. Black Walnut is a medium to hard density wood and makes wonderful
butchers blocks or cutting boards. Figured types of Walnut wood may also contain swirls, crotches, burls or curling patterns; creating a stunning, one-of-a-kind appearance
Each of our boards are unique. This specific board – is a excellent example of crotch wood (the place where branches join with the trunk) making it especially well patterned . The wood displays darker hues than normal, with a beautiful color filled grain and is highly figured. It is a truly stunning one-of-a-kind piece!
