This cut is not typical in mass produced items, due to the the wood being very soft - creating a fragile piece that is difficult to work with. The wood is left raw, with no finish, so that the natural oils are exposed to air. This type of cedar oil helps repel insects (spider/moths) and keeps your closet smelling fresh and woodsy. These planks have a lovely red pattern that really comes out when exposed to natural light. If scent fades in time, rub gently with sandpaper to renew the oils. Hang one in your closet to keep it fresh smelling and pest free!
